The Kurdish Institute of Jerusalem (KIJLM) is an independent non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting and celebrating Kurdish and Kurdish-Jewish culture within Israel. Our mission is rooted in creating a vibrant cultural exchange that fosters understanding and cooperation between the Kurdish and Israeli communities.

Goals and Mission

At KIJLM, we strive to engage the Israeli public and the Kurdish people through a variety of enriching initiatives. Our key goals include:

• Cultural Awareness: We aim to raise awareness of Kurds’ political, civic, and cultural lives in Kurdistan and the diaspora. Through our initiatives, we seek to educate the public about Kurdistan’s rich heritage and contemporary realities. It is vital to raise public awareness to defend the cultural, political, and human rights of the Kurdish people.
• Cultural Exchange Initiatives: We aim to create platforms for dialogue and mutual understanding by organizing academic events, conferences, and cultural showcases—such as art exhibitions, film screenings, and social events. Our events are designed to foster connections, raise awareness, and represent Kurdish life and culture.
• Collaborations: We aim to partner with Kurdish diaspora organizations and academic, social, and cultural institutions in Israel. By collaborating on various projects, we facilitate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diverse narratives that shape our communities.
• Supporting Kurdish Jews: We recognize the unique heritage of Kurdish Jews in Israel and provide a space for them to connect with their roots. By promoting engagement with Kurdish culture and history, we help individuals explore and celebrate their identity.
